In an age-appropriate way, this picture book explores what it's like to open up your home and heart to another person and begin the journey of a new family together. This book could also be about foster care and mixed families as well. The illustrations are more like stick figures, but I think it is a good idea to have a simple book like this because the children who are very young and have recently been adopted, this is a great book to ease in the idea of what adoption is and how the process is taken! Kind of like pumping breastmilk in the middle of the night.
This book is great for all kids to hear because it has the great message that there are all kinds of families and that you just need love! When I read it through myself before reading it with our child it filled me with emotion. An easy read great value and highly recommended. Not quite what I was expecting but will be great to use to help explain adoption for very young children when we get matched and placed. For our family, and those that I know, adoption is much more of a 2 way street. The genre of the book was children's adoption.
